OOTD: At the Movies + Sarojini Nagar Haul

If you’ve been reading this blog for some time, you would know that I absolutely love maxi dresses. And another thing that comes close to my liking for maxi dresses is maxi skirt.

Although I do not have a ton of them, I do enjoy wearing the ones that I do have. And this beautiful one that I recently scored from the ever-popular Sarojini Nagar market has quickly become my favourite.

Since the print on the skirt is rather busy, I kept the top simple- basic black tee looked good. I also wore some nice white/gold earrings (another favourite of mine). And since we were going to watch a movie (Bajrangi Bhaijan- in case you’re interested in knowing which one), I did carry a teal cardigan (I get super-cold in the theatre) and a matching bag from Clarks. The top is my sister’s and the skirt, like I said, is from SN. My footwear was a pair of flats from Bata and I also wore my usual rose-gold watch (Tommy Hilfiger).

If you want to check out all the goodies I scored from Sarojini Nagar, just hit the play button.

I love reading your comments so do drop in a line or two.

Floral Funk: What I Wore to a House Party

It was Saturday night and although I did feel like dressing-up for a house party/dinner that we had to attend, I did not really feel like making a ton of effort with regard to the same.

Monochrome and Colourblock- 2 Trends in One Item: Work Outfit

I love this shirt. I really do! It’s a combined package of 2 of the hottest trends right now- monochrome and colourblock! And it has got the prettiest collar ever- with shiny little metallic studs and sequins.

Remember my visit to the flea market with my friend where I scored the gorgeous yellow maxi dress and the denim tunic, well that’s where and when I picked up this chic shirt. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to get it. And even my friend liked it so much that both us ended up getting the same shirt :D Now we are just looking forward to wearing it together--- BIG fun! :P

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you would know that I wore this shirt to work on Monday. I teamed it up with my black skinnies and black pumps. The studded collar adds a touch of edge and funk to this shirt without making it inappropriate for work. I carried my regular bag and I like the fact that it added a pop of rich brown to this monochrome outfit. In all honesty, I loved this look (batting eyelashes now).

Why I love this shirt so much you ask?! I will just list out the reasons for you:

1.      Fit- The fit is beautiful- for me fit of any garment is very important. No matter how expensive your clothes  might be, if the fit isn’t right, you won’t shine!

2.      Trendy-Monochrome and Colourblocking- it combines 2 of the hottest trends of the season. And although  I’m not a big follower of trends, it doesn’t hurt to get a little trendy every now and then.

3.      The Studded Collar- Gorgeous! It adds an edginess to the shirt. You don’t need no bling while wearing this shirt.

4.     Multi-Purpose/Versatile- It can be worn to work (as seen above) or for a night out with some coloured pants (coral, cobalt, hot pink).

5.      Price- Definitely a style score. I mean the price I paid for it makes me love it even more.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this outfit.

Floral Pants and Denim Shirt: Weekend Outfit

I have already worn these floral pants twice (first I paired them with a white top as can be seen here; second time I teamed them up with a magenta top- will do a post on that soon). And last Sunday I wore them for the third time. I teamed them up with a dark blue denim shirt. The shirt has long sleeves so I folded them (I prefer wearing this shirt with the sleeve folded up). I added berry coloured shoes to the mix and carried my tan bag. This was my Sunday outfit and might I add that I loved it!

Also, these floral pants are turning out to be more versatile than I had initially thought them to be. So all of you thinking of sporting this trend, I say go for it! :)

Floral Pants: Post coming up soon
Denim Shirt: Almost 12 years old (can't recall the brand)
Bag: Gifted
Shoes: Tashi

Floral Top, White Pants and Skinny Belt: Weekend Outfit

It is no secret that I am a HUGE fan of florals. So when I find myself in a fix, I subconsciously reach out to the floral items in my wardrobe- like this beautiful purple/pink floral top.

On Sunday, I wore this floral top with my white pants. Since the top is sheer, I wore a pink camisole underneath it. And to keep the outfit from looking boring, I added a skinny belt over the top, which kind of accentuated my waist (I think). For footwear I had my berry shoes on (love these). The colour of the shoes complements the pink undertones of the top. And I carried a coral pink sling bag (not in this photo). BTW, this floral top is a total style-score (more on it in an upcoming post)! I was mighty pleased with this outfit (not so pleased with the kind of swollen face).

New Floral Pants and White Top- Weekend Outfit

I’m not really a big follower of trends. I mean I do like to wear clothes that are on trend, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to incorporate any and every current trend. Basically, I like to wear clothes that look good on me and flatter my body-type. Who cares if they are from the 80’s! That being said, I do shop for clothes which are ‘in’ at the moment- read maxi, colour-blocked items, coloured pants etc.

One such trend of which I wasn’t a big fan, and had shied away from sporting was ‘floral pants’. Floral pants have been around for some time and can be seen everywhere- from the ramps to the streets. However, I wasn’t too keen on spending around Rs.3,000/- (USD55) for a piece of clothing that I wasn’t even sure would look good on me. Anyhow, as fate would have it, while out on my recent flea-market trip (post coming up soon), I saw the most beautiful pair of floral pants. I mean really- the colours were vibrant and the print too pretty. And they were in my size (I mean they were a size up but the guy said flea market stuff often runs a size bigger than the standard branded ones. Plus by looking at a pair of pants you can get a fair idea whether they’ll fit you!). So without blinking an eyelid, I grabbed the pair of floral beauties. I mean even if they weren’t my size it wouldn’t have hurt my pocket right! Next thing I know, I was making outfit combinations in my head- and the first and the most obvious one was to pair it with a white top.

So last Saturday I teamed up my new floral pants with a basic white top. The top has full-sleeves which I folded to half (like it better folded-up). For footwear I wore my orange peep-toes which made the orange in the pants pop. And I added an orange stone necklace just to complete the look. Since the pants are a riot of colours, the bag I carried was my tan one. I personally loved the outfit and I can’t wait to wear the floral pants again (and again…)!

Would you give floral pants a try?

Vintage, Polka Dot Midi Skirt and Bright Blue Tee- Weekend Outfit

On one of my recent flea-market visits, I wore this vintage-y black/white polka-dot midi skirt with a bright blue top. Now I don’t usually wear skirts or dresses during trips to flea-markets and usually prefer to rock a tunic/loose tee with some leggings (easy and comfortable). But it had been a while since I had worn my polka-dot midi (last worn hereand I just felt like giving it some TLC. I think the length of the skirt (it being a midi) helped in a way- I could sit, bend and sift through heaps of clothes, accessories and all that fun stuff without being awkward  The bag I carried was this huge black one with ikat print in blue/mustard/white (I usually carry this bag when I go flea-market shopping, it's just great to stuff all the goodies and you don't need to take those unnecessary polybags that the vendors provide- I try to be eco-frinedly you see :)). The blue in the bag complemented the blue tee. And since flea-market shopping involves a lot of walking, and the surroundings aren’t exactly spic and span, I wore my black studded flats, which I thought went well with the skirt. I also wore a blue necklace which can’t be seen clearly in the photo (but you can have a look at it here).

I thought the outfit looked just about ok. Although I like this skirt (considering it’s an absolute style score that I thrifted) I think that it somehow makes me look bigger than I really am!

Blue Butterfly Shirt and White Pants: Weekend Outfit

I am in love with this blue/white H&M sleeveless shirt that I thrifted some time ago. It’s got these little white butterflies all over it which I really like. Another thing that I love about this shirt is the Chinese collar- I think Chinese collars add instant sophistication to any shirt/top.

This Saturday was the first time I wore this shirt- and what better way to wear it than to team it up with my white skinny pants. I added a brown skinny belt (borrowed from my Sister) over the top just to accentuate my waist. Keeping in mind the brown skinny belt, I chose to wear my chocolate brown pumps and carried my tan bag. I really liked this outfit. What do you think?

You can see how I wore my white skinny pants earlier here and here.

And yes, I borrow a lot of stuff from my sister (and so does she!). Like they say, sharing is caring! J

Floral Dress: Style Score: Outfit of the Day

I can proudly say that I am not a brand-snob. I mean I do have a soft corner for my favourite labels but it’s not like I don’t explore the good, girly stuff at other places. I mean who doesn’t love a good deal right?! And if you happen to find a beautiful, lady-like, feminine, floral dress perfect for lunch with your girls or a romantic date with your boyfriend/husband, the deal transforms from good to great.

So I chanced upon this gorgeous floral dress as I was strolling across one of the famous street markets of Delhi. I saw it hanging at one of the many colourful stalls and it just spoke to me. I mean it literally tugged at me. And at precisely that moment, I knew I had to make it a part of my ever-expanding wardrobe. Now if you’ve been reading my blog for some time now, you’ll know that I am a big fan of florals. Love the print on everything possible- from clothes, to accessories, to upholstery to crockery and so on. So I bought the dress, and at a great price. I mean the dress in my eyes is beautiful, but the price I paid for it just adds more charm to this beauty.

I came back home and I knew I had to try it on. It turned out to be perfect. I quickly got photos clicked so as to share it with all you lovely people. I love the feminine vibe of the dress. Another thing that I like about it is the length- it hits just below the knee and that makes it more versatile than some of the other (short) dresses out there.

Do you shop at street markets? Or do you prefer sticking to your trusted brands? Drop me a comment. J

Happy Independence Day: Outfit of the Day

Hello lovely readers! Wishing you all Happy Independence Day.

One of the reasons I love this day is because well, it’s a holiday (apart from the fact that India attained its independence on this day). So making maximum use of this day, I slept off till (reasonably) late, although I would have liked to sleep a little more. Once I woke up, I had plans of going grocery shopping with my Mum and little sister. I know it doesn’t sound too exciting but I am really kicked about my new-found love for healthy food, and I was excited to pick up some fresh greens for my meal. Apart from veggie shopping, I also bought a Clean and Clear face-wash-cream combo (and topped up my toiletries). Let me know if you would like me to do a review on it. So basically after a couple of hours of intense shopping, we got back home tired. But my tiredness didn’t get in the way of getting photos clicked.

So coming on to today’s outfit, since I didn’t have too much time to get dressed-up, I wore my dark blue skinny jeans with this lovely floral, crochet detail cowl-neck Ann Taylor top (you can see here) that my sister bought recently. She picked it up from an export house for almost 1/20th the original price (it retails for INR 3800/- or USD 70). What A score! I absolutely love the vibrant colours and the lace/crochet detail. I tucked this lovely top in to my jeans and finished the look with a brown skinny belt. I just carried my phone and i-touch in my brown sling/fringe bag. For footwear I had my comfy silver flats on. To let the crochet/lace detail show, I tied my hair in a bun (also because I was too lazy to try any other hairstyle :P). And I just had my rose-gold watch on along-with a pearl bracelet and some bangles.

Drop me a line about your style score. J

I AM BACK- Vintage, Polka Dot Skirt and Mustard Top- Outfit

I know I have been MIA for quite some time now (almost a year), but what to do, I had to attend my own wedding J So basically I was busy with Shaadi and other related things but now that I am relatively free, I have decided to revive this blog.

In my effort to make this blog better and more insightful, I have decided to have themes related to clothes, shopping and other such fun things. Confused? Don’t be, you will get to experience the best that Delhi (and other places as I travel) has to offer in terms of clothing, accessories, fashion etc. and that too at the best (lowest) prices. :D

So without further ado, I bring to you an outfit post.

Well, I quite like the mid-length full volume or A-line skirts (they remind me of the 50s fashion), however they are not that easy to find. So on my recent trip to one of the flea markets, I chanced upon this beautiful black/white polka-dot skirt. It was perfect in terms of size, shape and pattern. It’s a classic and without a blink I picked it up.

And now that I had this gorgeous skirt, I couldn’t wait to wear it. So the very next day I had to run some errands and decided to wear the skirt. I teamed the skirt with a deep mustard sleeveless top. I have had this top for a long time and thought it went nicely with the skirt. I also added a wide black belt to pull the look together. For footwear I wore my red/silver flats although ideally black or tan heels would have looked perfect. I carried my tan bag (my current favourite) and to complete the look I added a beaded long necklace and my rose-gold watch. I didn’t wear earrings, just didn't feel like.

So, how do you like the outfit? I have a gazillion ideas running through my head on how to style this skirt. Would do more posts on the same. Comments and feedback are always welcome.
