OOTD: Reggae Vibes

I love me some stripes, and I love me some colour. So when you combine stripes and colour, it automatically results in my favourite outfit. And when the colour palette has a strong reggae vibe to it, it just makes the outfit that much more special.

Confused by the description? Checkout the dress I wore a couple of weeks back. This dress is super comfortable and fits beautifully. I like the fuss-free style and the fact that it’s cotton makes it for an easy wear in this humid weather.

I paired the dress up with my brown Bata flats and a tan belt (from Bangkok). And my choice of handbag was the Louis Vuitton Galliera PM. I love how the tan elements (in the accessories) complement the outfit and pull the whole look together. I also wore a peach hair-band (also from Bangkok). If you follow me on Instagram, you would know that I have been loving hair-bands.

Dress: Watch this to know (and get pleasantly surprised).
Footwear: Bata
Handbag: Louis Vuitton Galliera PM

Monochrome and Colourblock- 2 Trends in One Item: Work Outfit

I love this shirt. I really do! It’s a combined package of 2 of the hottest trends right now- monochrome and colourblock! And it has got the prettiest collar ever- with shiny little metallic studs and sequins.

Remember my visit to the flea market with my friend where I scored the gorgeous yellow maxi dress and the denim tunic, well that’s where and when I picked up this chic shirt. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to get it. And even my friend liked it so much that both us ended up getting the same shirt :D Now we are just looking forward to wearing it together--- BIG fun! :P

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you would know that I wore this shirt to work on Monday. I teamed it up with my black skinnies and black pumps. The studded collar adds a touch of edge and funk to this shirt without making it inappropriate for work. I carried my regular bag and I like the fact that it added a pop of rich brown to this monochrome outfit. In all honesty, I loved this look (batting eyelashes now).

Why I love this shirt so much you ask?! I will just list out the reasons for you:

1.      Fit- The fit is beautiful- for me fit of any garment is very important. No matter how expensive your clothes  might be, if the fit isn’t right, you won’t shine!

2.      Trendy-Monochrome and Colourblocking- it combines 2 of the hottest trends of the season. And although  I’m not a big follower of trends, it doesn’t hurt to get a little trendy every now and then.

3.      The Studded Collar- Gorgeous! It adds an edginess to the shirt. You don’t need no bling while wearing this shirt.

4.     Multi-Purpose/Versatile- It can be worn to work (as seen above) or for a night out with some coloured pants (coral, cobalt, hot pink).

5.      Price- Definitely a style score. I mean the price I paid for it makes me love it even more.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this outfit.

Colour-Blocked Weekend Outfit

I was working last Saturday, so as much as I would have liked to wear a flowy maxi or a girly dress, I knew I needed to look office appropriate. Now I think I have mentioned this before but I’ll just say it again- the dress-code at my office (for Saturdays) is ‘smart casual’ which basically means ‘toned down’ casual wear. Faded/ripped jeans and garish prints are a complete no-no. So although we do have the liberty to dress-up casual on Saturdays, the outfit must fit the prescribed norms.

Now coming on to the outfit that I wore last (working) Saturday! I combined my sleeveless colour-blocked top (last worn here) with my dark blue skinnies. I added a teal cardigan to keep me warm against the stupid AC. I mean I don’t have anything against the AC, but then again sometimes it becomes too cold at work, and I like to keep myself warm and comfy J I really like how the cardigan (apart from keeping me warm) complements the top in terms of the colour-scheme. I’d just like to add that despite its colour, this cardigan has proven to be quite versatile, as can be seen here and here.

Now since there was (a lot of colour) on the top-half, I decided to wear nude wedges. And of course, I had to carry my tan bag to work (it’s just so convenient or I’m way too lazy to switch bags- you decide!)!

I like this top a lot and when I bought it I thought I’d get a lot of use out of it in the warmer months but this is the second time I’ve worn it. It was just sitting pretty in my closet! :/

You can see another colour-blocked shirt I have here.

Cardigan: Zara
Top: Only
Skinny Jeans: Mango
Shoes/Wedges: Balujas
Bag: Gifted

Do you have items in your closet that sit pretty without you noticing them for the longest time?!

Colour-Blocked Cobalt and Coral Shirt and Black Trousers- Work Outfit

One of the current trends that I really like is colour-blocking. Colour-blocking has been on the fashion circuit for quite some time now, and it’s still a rage. Although I do not own a lot of colour-blocked clothing items, I love the few that I do own.
One of my favourites is this cobalt and coral colour-blocked, tie-up shirt that I wore this week for work. I teamed it up with my basic black trousers and added a skinny belt to complete the look. My footwear of choice was black pumps and as usual I carried my tan bag. I was quite pleased with this look. J

Shirt: Vero Moda
Trousers: Mango
Shoes: Tashi

COLOUR-BLOCKED

The colour-blocking trend has been around for a while, and this season one can see the some bold colours not only in clothes but also in accessories such as bags, shoes and jewellery.

Although I am not a big follower of trends (as trends come are transient), I particularly like colour-blocking. I do not usually centre my shopping or purchases around the current trends cause I really cannot get myself to buy/wear something just because it is “trendy” or “in” at the moment. That being said, I am also not the one to avoid trends. I guess all I am trying to say is that I will buy something which looks good to my eye, and makes me feel good irrespective of it’s trendiness (or the lack of it).

I have a few pieces of clothing which fall in the “colour-blocked” category, but I have managed to buy any colour-blocked accessories (I am not convinced that the trend looks equally good on bags and shoes). One of the items is this flowy top in white/sea blue/green. I actually picked this up during winters and thought it’d be ideal for spring and summer...the colours are just so fresh.

Today, while catching up with a friend for coffee, I paired this colour-blocked top with my trusted dark blue skinnies. I added some big dangly earrings and bangles in blue and red. My footwear was simple red/silver flats. I thought the red in the flats tied well with the bangles and my red nail paint. I carried my tan leather bag (which I’m loving at the moment).
