Summer Skirts LookBook || Clothes and Creativity

Summers have announced their arrival and there's not much we can do to escape the heat, apart from planting ourselves in front of the AC or taking a nice little vacation. I'm in favour of the latter though! ;)

Jokes apart, what we can do to make the hot months more bearable is to dress appropriately- make sure that we are wearing easy, breezy clothes in light fabrics and bright colours! And talking about easy-breezy stuff, the one piece of clothing that pops in my mind is a summer skirt! Now I scored a ton of Summer Skirts right at the onset of summers, and honestly you won't believe the price I scored them for. Checkout this Summer Skirt Haul to know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, getting back to the topic, skirts are one of the best options when it comes to 'summer fashion'. They are easy to style and won't leave you sweating like a you know what... :P

So I styled my favourite summer skirts and compiled them into a Lookbook so that you guys might get some summer fashion inspiration. :)

How I Styled My 10 Year Old Skirt

I know I have been far from regular on this blog, and I know that more often than not, I promise to be more regular, but for some reason, I am just not able to keep up with writing about all the fun outfits (IMO) I have been rocking.

However, if you head over to my YouTube Channel, it's a totally different story. I have been posting videos twice, sometimes even thrice a week, and the videos cover everything from fashion to beauty to lifestyle. And incase you are just interested in outfit posts, then you may head to my Instagram, where I post almost everyday!

With that being said, I do want to let you guys know that I will continue to blog, maybe not as regularly as I used to a year back, but you will see outfit posts from me.

Like the one I'm sharing today- it's the perfect outfit for the current weather. I wore it to shopping sometime last week. Now whenever I have to run an errand, or go shopping, I try to dress cute, but even while trying to dress cute, comfort is key! So I chose a simple green top and paired it with a floral chiffon skirt, which, believe it or not, is about 10 years old! Yes, you read it right! And yes, I hold on to my clothes (at least the ones I like) for rather long! Wearing flat footwear was a no-brainer (I'm not the kind who can hop around in heels for long). And to add an element of interest to the outfit, I wore my beaded tassel necklace (which is reminiscent of BaubleBar jewellery). And since it was (and is) rather hot, I wore my hair in a bun. All in all, the outfit was comfortable yet cute! :)

Happy Diwali: Outfit of the Day

Hope all of you had a beautiful Diwali. I sure had a great time with family.
Actually, to be honest, I spent most of the day getting our house in order, and by evening I was kind of exhausted. So although I did want to get dolled-up in a nice saree, I chose comfort over style (I think I say that a lot). But in comfort too, I wanted to ‘dress for the occasion’. So I came up with the following outfit solution:
Floral Maxi Skirt + Raw Silk Red Blouse + Statement Earrings
There’s something about this floral skirt that makes the whole outfit dressy. If you recall from this post, I had bought this skirt a couple of weeks back. It came with another top, but somehow the outfit as a whole did nothing for me. So I had made a mental note to look for a top from my existing wardrobe that would go nicely with the skirt. And on looking, I found this beautiful raw silk top that I had gotten stitched from my local tailor a couple of years back. So this whole outfit is the perfect example of ‘mix and match’. The best thing about this outfit is that since the skirt has an elastic waistband, it’s really comfortable.

Vintage, Polka Dot Midi Skirt and Bright Blue Tee- Weekend Outfit

On one of my recent flea-market visits, I wore this vintage-y black/white polka-dot midi skirt with a bright blue top. Now I don’t usually wear skirts or dresses during trips to flea-markets and usually prefer to rock a tunic/loose tee with some leggings (easy and comfortable). But it had been a while since I had worn my polka-dot midi (last worn here) and I just felt like giving it some TLC. I think the length of the skirt (it being a midi) helped in a way- I could sit, bend and sift through heaps of clothes, accessories and all that fun stuff without being awkward  The bag I carried was this huge black one with ikat print in blue/mustard/white (I usually carry this bag when I go flea-market shopping, it's just great to stuff all the goodies and you don't need to take those unnecessary polybags that the vendors provide- I try to be eco-frinedly you see :)). The blue in the bag complemented the blue tee. And since flea-market shopping involves a lot of walking, and the surroundings aren’t exactly spic and span, I wore my black studded flats, which I thought went well with the skirt. I also wore a blue necklace which can’t be seen clearly in the photo (but you can have a look at it here).

I thought the outfit looked just about ok. Although I like this skirt (considering it’s an absolute style score that I thrifted) I think that it somehow makes me look bigger than I really am!

FLORAL SKIRT and MINT GREEN TOP

It is Sunday…yayyy! No one can underestimate the power of ‘Sunday’ J Especially us working folks. And looks like even the weather Gods have heard us. As I type this, it’s pouring outside. Much needed respite from the terrible Delhi heat and humidity.

Coming on to the fun part, I had to run some errands in the afternoon and while trying to dress-up a little fancy shmancy I came up with this outfit. Now it’s not fancy by any standard, but it still gives me a sense of being ‘put-together’. Floral skirt with a mint green top, and some black pumps. See, it sounds pretty dressy, doesn’t it? And it’s easy in the rains. Who wants to dirty those jeans and trousers in the monsoons? Not me!

Also, I carried my pink/black faux snakeskin bag as it fits all my necessities (read phone, keys, lip-balm, perfume, i-touch). For accessories, I added a dainty necklace and wide black belt.

What’s your choice of outfit on a lazy Sunday? Do you like getting dressed-up or prefer lounging around in your PJs? Drop in a line J

FLORAL SKIRT

I am a big fan of floral prints sand love them in clothing, accessories, upholstery, crockery- basically everything.

And floral skirts in all shapes and sizes make for excellent summer staples. I have a couple of them and absolutely enjoy teaming them up with a solid colour top or blouse on a hot summer day or evening.

Coming on to today’s outfit, I wore my A-line, mid-length floral skirt along-with a deep purple top. I had to go out shopping and thought it to be a fun outfit, keeping the increasingly hot and humid weather in mind. The floral skirt is fun, feminine, fresh and flirty and looks great with solid tops in green, purple, yellow (since the flowers are in those colours). In this case, the purple top echoes with the purple flowers in the skirt. My footwear was purple/silver flats and I carried my current favourite tan bag. For accessories I wore some brown earrings, rose-gold watch and a string of multicoloured beads.

ONE SKIRT: 3 DIFFERENT WAYS

I picked up this lovely gray pencil skirt around 1 year and a half back and have been wearing it ever since. The skirt has got a subtle floral pattern all throughout and hits about mid-length. The length of the skirt makes it easy to wear it to any place.

By changing the top and the accessories, the outfit can take on a whole new look. To illustrate this point, you may have a look at the three different ways in which I have worn this skirt in the past.

For the very first time that I wore this skirt, I teamed it up with a navy blue top. For accessories I added my pink/black Zara bag and a beaded necklace. The footwear was white flats.

Since the skirt is pretty much neutral, here I combined it with a tomato red top. Gray and red look gorgeous together and the red top echoes with the red floral pattern on the skirt. You may notice that I’m wearing the same beaded necklace. For footwear I have my red/silver flats and the bag is a nude M&S hobo.

Here I combined the skirt with a bright blue top. The bag is the same as that in the outfit above (nude M&S hobo). And the common thing in all the outfits apart from the skirt is the beaded necklace, It’s one of my favourite accessories since it’s so easy to wear and can help pull-together most of the outfits. My sandals are studded, berry coloured flats.

Let me know of any other pairing that’ll look great with this skirt. Comments and feedback are appreciated.

I AM BACK- Vintage, Polka Dot Skirt and Mustard Top- Outfit

I know I have been MIA for quite some time now (almost a year), but what to do, I had to attend my own wedding J So basically I was busy with Shaadi and other related things but now that I am relatively free, I have decided to revive this blog.

In my effort to make this blog better and more insightful, I have decided to have themes related to clothes, shopping and other such fun things. Confused? Don’t be, you will get to experience the best that Delhi (and other places as I travel) has to offer in terms of clothing, accessories, fashion etc. and that too at the best (lowest) prices. :D

So without further ado, I bring to you an outfit post.

Well, I quite like the mid-length full volume or A-line skirts (they remind me of the 50s fashion), however they are not that easy to find. So on my recent trip to one of the flea markets, I chanced upon this beautiful black/white polka-dot skirt. It was perfect in terms of size, shape and pattern. It’s a classic and without a blink I picked it up.

And now that I had this gorgeous skirt, I couldn’t wait to wear it. So the very next day I had to run some errands and decided to wear the skirt. I teamed the skirt with a deep mustard sleeveless top. I have had this top for a long time and thought it went nicely with the skirt. I also added a wide black belt to pull the look together. For footwear I wore my red/silver flats although ideally black or tan heels would have looked perfect. I carried my tan bag (my current favourite) and to complete the look I added a beaded long necklace and my rose-gold watch. I didn’t wear earrings, just didn't feel like.

So, how do you like the outfit? I have a gazillion ideas running through my head on how to style this skirt. Would do more posts on the same. Comments and feedback are always welcome.
