Comfort Dressing: Maxi Dress: Weekend Outfit

Hello lovely people!

I am delighted to share that I was featured on Claire’s wonderful blog and you can read all about it here. In case you want to check-out the post that was featured, you can see it here.

I’ve been under the weather for a few days now, and waking up to the news of my post being featured brought about the much needed cheer and happiness. I haven’t even gone to work.

Most of Sunday was spent in bed because I was feeling bleaaah! I had fever and body-ache. However, in the evening my husband suggested we go out for a bit, just so I would feel better. By the time I got out of bed and freshened up, I was feeling better. I just wanted to wear the comfiest outfit ever. And in my knowledge, PJs are the comfiest ever, but I really didn’t want to make a spectacle of myself. So I grabbed the next most comfortable thing, and that was this maxi dress. It’s a failry recent addition to my wardrobe and I’ve already worn it twice. I have spoken (written) about my love for maxi dresses here, here, here and here. This maxi dress is kind of monochromatic. It’s got a tie-up belt in black and black sequins on the shoulder. I forgot to take a photograph of the sequined shoulder. I was in no mood to carry a super heavy bag so I stuck to my black studded sling bag. And keeping the comfy quotient in mind, I wore my silver flats. I was glad that I looked presentable taking in to consideration the fact that I wasn’t feeling great.

The fresh air did me some good and for a couple of hours I felt kind of fine, however, once back home the body-ache and fever returned and I hated it. I’m still unwell and had to miss work, but I’m hoping to get better soon.

Monochrome and Colourblock- 2 Trends in One Item: Work Outfit

I love this shirt. I really do! It’s a combined package of 2 of the hottest trends right now- monochrome and colourblock! And it has got the prettiest collar ever- with shiny little metallic studs and sequins.

Remember my visit to the flea market with my friend where I scored the gorgeous yellow maxi dress and the denim tunic, well that’s where and when I picked up this chic shirt. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to get it. And even my friend liked it so much that both us ended up getting the same shirt :D Now we are just looking forward to wearing it together--- BIG fun! :P

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you would know that I wore this shirt to work on Monday. I teamed it up with my black skinnies and black pumps. The studded collar adds a touch of edge and funk to this shirt without making it inappropriate for work. I carried my regular bag and I like the fact that it added a pop of rich brown to this monochrome outfit. In all honesty, I loved this look (batting eyelashes now).

Why I love this shirt so much you ask?! I will just list out the reasons for you:

1.      Fit- The fit is beautiful- for me fit of any garment is very important. No matter how expensive your clothes  might be, if the fit isn’t right, you won’t shine!

2.      Trendy-Monochrome and Colourblocking- it combines 2 of the hottest trends of the season. And although  I’m not a big follower of trends, it doesn’t hurt to get a little trendy every now and then.

3.      The Studded Collar- Gorgeous! It adds an edginess to the shirt. You don’t need no bling while wearing this shirt.

4.     Multi-Purpose/Versatile- It can be worn to work (as seen above) or for a night out with some coloured pants (coral, cobalt, hot pink).

5.      Price- Definitely a style score. I mean the price I paid for it makes me love it even more.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this outfit.

Lazy Monday: Work Outfit

I’m jumping straight to the outfit I wore on Monday. In case you want to check out what I wore on Sunday, you can see it here. I usually try to update my Instagram daily so that even if I’m unable to post my OOTD on this blog, you can have a look at it on my Instagram.

Monday morning outfit breakdown- I was really lazy and in NO mood to go to work. I was even tempted to give work a miss, but then again that would just upset the entire week’s routine. So reluctantly, I tried to get dressed for work. I chose my monochrome blouse/top (also worn here) and without even giving it a though, combined it with my trusted black trousers. What a no-brainer I tell you! However, as most of you would know by now, I’m not a fan of monochromes and/or neutrals palettes. So I did what I’m best at doing- I threw on a beautiful rust/burnt orange scarf and the outfit instantly became fun! Don’t you agree? To be honest, this outfit is the exact replica of the one here, except that I have switched scarves!

Monochrome Monday: Work Outfit

I am sporting the Monochrome trend today, although if you ask me I’ll say I’m not really a big fan of the trend. But this top that I’m wearing is new. And you know how I itch to wear new things ;) Hence, the outfit. Also, the top was a gift for my sister but she didn’t want to wear it so I was like let me grab it now!

Outfit details- I’ve paired up black trousers with this gorgeous black and white sheer top. The neckline has beautiful sequin and stone work in black- classy and tasteful. I’m (obviously) wearing a black camisole underneath the top. For shoes I have my black pumps on and the bag I’m carrying is my tan one. I have a stack of pearl bracelets and some bangles alongwith my silver watch for some sparkle and cheer! J

Top: M&S
Trousers: Mango
Bag: Gifted
Shoes: Tashi

You can have a look at my other ‘monochrome outfits’ here and here.

In case you’re wondering what happened to my “weekend outfit posts”, I shall post them on the blog soon. In the meantime you can have a look at them on my Instagram (clothesandcreativity).

Also, the quality of the photos isn’t great- sometimes I have to choose between no photos and half-decent photos, and I always choose the latter. Something is better than nothing…right?!

Monochrome Top: One Piece Many Ways

Today’s post is a result of Audrey's wonderful idea of remixing our clothing items to get maximum use out of them. If you want to see the last One Piece Many Ways post, click here. Audrey blogs at Putting Me Together.

Now I am a creature of habit. There are times when I want to wear the same outfit over and over again just because it’s easy and makes me feel good. And there are certain favourite items in my wardrobe- like this gorgeous monochrome top. I had picked it up from a boutique, without even trying it on. Initially I thought it was perfect for work (combined with black trousers). But I think it’s perfect for a casual setting as well.

·         I teamed-up this top with my favourite coral pants. I added black pumps and my studded black bag for some fun. You can have a look at the original post here.

·         The monochrome top paired up with a pair of black trousers is my favourite look for work. I often add a bright accessory (here it can be seen in the form of a hot pink scarf) to add some fun and colour to the monochromatic look. You can have a look at the original post here.

·         This top looks great my white pants. I added a string of pearls around my neck to add a touch of femininity to the outfit. My footwear had animal prints and it almost mimicked the top. You can have a look at the original post here.

Do you remix your clothing items often? Which outfit did you like the best? I would love to know your thoughts on the same. J

Coral and Monochrome: Outfit of the Day

This is another outfit from last weekend. Since it was an extended one, I had the opportunity (and pleasure) of getting dressed in bright and colourful attire (my favourite). I combined my coral pants (previously worn here and here) with this monochrome top and my favourite black pumps. For jewellery I had little heart ear-studs and a pendant-necklace on. And I added my daily dose of sparkle in the form of my rose-gold watch and sparkly bangles and bracelet. The bag I carried was my black silver/gold studded one. I though it went rather well with this outfit.

Comments and feedback welcome.

POP of PINK: Outfit of the Day

I am a big fan of colour. I like colour in my clothing, accessories, home décor and everything else. And I have a thing for brights. I just love bright and colourful things. You can label me ‘childish’ but I really don’t care. Bright colours make me happy and uplift my spirit. And if it was possible, I’d be dressed in brights everyday. But since that is far from possible, I try to incorporate colour even when I am wearing a neutral (read bleaaah) outfit.

Coming on to today’s outfit, which is pretty much black, with specks of white on the blouse, I knew I needed some colour to get me going. And so I added a pop of pink in the form of a scarf/stole. The outfit instantly seemed more cheerful and so did my mood. Such is the effect of colour on one’s mood (at least mine). And a pop of pink never fails!

The accessories were simple- silver hoop earrings and my silver watch with pink sparkly bangles and a pearl bracelet. I am wearing a necklace around my neck which cannot be seen in the photo. For footwear I had my comfy black pumps on and carried the huge tan bag. I really need to switch my stuff to another bag but the current one seems so convenient (or I am plain lazy). Monotony has set in and it’s time that I get use out of one of my other bags!

Do you like colours or prefer neutrals?

MONOCHROME: One of the Most Popular Trends this Season

I have recently been reading a lot about monochromatic outfits and how they are making a comeback in the global fashion scene. Monochrome seems to be one of the most popular trends currently.

If you ask me, then I’ll say that I’m a big fan of colours and usually stay away from the boring blacks and whites. However, sometimes, just for a change I do not mind opting for a monochrome outfit.

Here I am wearing my white denims with a psychedelic black and white top. In fact, I went a step ahead and wore animal print shoes in the same combination. I added a string of pearls for interest and I’m carrying my huge M&S bag.

Shoes: Don't remember

How do you like this outfit? Looking forward to your comments and feedback.
