Maroon/Burgundy Pants: One Piece Many Ways

We all know that coloured pants have been a rage since the last two years, and they are still pretty hot in the fashion circuit. So I thought I’d do a post on my very first pair of coloured pants (as an adult), and the many different ways I have rocked them.

About two years back, I bought a pair of burgundy/maroon pants. I liked the fit and the first few times I wore them with the safe white/gray/black tees. But as the pants got older, and I eased a little in to sporting them, I started mixing and matching them with different coloured tops and blouses. Here are a few of them.

What I Wore on A Working Saturday: Floral Top and Maroon Pants

Remember the last time I wore this floral top? Well, I had been itching to wear it again, but this time in a more ‘relaxed’ way. And a Working Saturday was a perfect day to give this top a relaxed, fun spin.

So I started by picking out these burgundy/maroon pants which bookend the pink/maroon flowers of the top rather nicely. And then for footwear, I chose a pair of black Bata sandals. I bought these and a couple of other sandals from Bata fairly recently, and I must say they are all super-comfy. Coming on to the bag, I really did not bother changing in to a neutral one and just went along-with my current favourite blue Zara bag. In fact, since the outfit is fairly coordinated, a pop of blue adds a touch of unexpected ‘interest’ to the outfit. For sunglasses, I had my newest Primark ones on. I love them, and I have nothing similar to these. J On that note, do let me know if you’d like me to do a ‘London Haul’. Also, although my hairstyle is not too clear in the photo, I made a side French braid and then pulled the rest of the hair in to a normal braid. I’ve been loving the whole French braid thing, and it literally takes 5 minutes, and looks super-fancy.

Gray Tee, Maroon Pants and Beige Blazer- Not-So-Casual Sunday Outfit

White Top, Burgundy Pants and Scarf- Weekend Outfit

Most people think that scarves are only to be worn during colder months. I however beg to differ and genuinely think that they can be worn all year round, irrespective of the season. For this simple reason they are one of my favourite accessories. I mean adding a scarf instantly takes even the simplest outfits a notch up. If you don’t believe me, you can decide for yourself (by looking at the outfit below).

So I wore this outfit a few weeks ago for an evening out. It consists of a white top paired with maroon/burgundy pants and a fun scarf. The white top and maroon pants, just by themselves looked a little too simple, and although there’s nothing wrong with a simple outfit, I’m always looking for ways to add fun and interest to an outfit. And what better way to add fun than to have a gorgeous scarf thrown around the neck. I love this gray scarf which has (not so) little red foxes all over it. The quirky print and unusual colour combination make it for a unique piece. And the red print complements the maroon pants just fine. I wore black studded flats and carried my tan bag.

Maroon/Burgundy Pants and Bird-Print Navy Top- Weekend Outfit

This Sunday I wore my maroon pants (previously worn here) along –with a navy bird-print top (worn here). Now when I bought these pants, they were like my favourite (primarily because they were the only coloured pants in my wardrobe) and I couldn’t stop wearing them. But ever since I bought the lovely coral pants (worn here, here, here and here), I’ll have to admit I have neglected the maroon beauties.

However, this Sunday I chose to give them some love. Keeping in mind that Fall is approaching, I teamed up the maroon pants with this beautiful navy blue top which has little birds all over it. Combining too dark colours (navy and maroon in this case) is not really my thing but then again with the changing season, I decided to give it a go. I was happy with this outfit, not so much with the photo. Too much yellow I say, although it was my great idea to switch on all the yellow lights!

Anyone else feels the stillness in the air and the sweet smell of festivities just around the corner. I love this season (although it’s still kind of hot and humid in Delhi).

Coloured Pants

Coloured Pants/Denims/Bottoms have been quite a rage for some time now, and with summer kicking in with full glory, you can see coloured bottoms everywhere.

I couldn't resist all the yummy colours and jumped on to the bandwagon with much aplomb. As a starting post, I will show you how I have incorporated the trend in to my everyday attire. I bought a pair of maroon pants which I have successfully teamed up with different tops to create a casual-chic look. Here is how:

Look No.1: I teamed up the maroon pants with a basic grey top. To add a pop of colour to the outfit, I added a necklace with orange and maroon stones. The necklace adds interest to the outfit and ties up the maroon pants well with the neutral top. Further, I added a neutral, soft/flesh pink bag to complete the look.

Look No.2: Here, I teamed up the maroon pants with a basic black tee. I accessorized by adding a colour-blocked scarf with black, red, blue and beige colour. Colour-blocking is another trend which has been big since quite some time now. The red in the scarf goes well with the maroon pants. I again carried a neutral bag to avoid adding too many colours. I finished off the look by wearing simple berry coloured flats which go very well with the maroon pants.
