Happy Diwali: Outfit of the Day

Hope all of you had a beautiful Diwali. I sure had a great time with family.

Actually, to be honest, I spent most of the day getting our house in order, and by evening I was kind of exhausted. So although I did want to get dolled-up in a nice saree, I chose comfort over style (I think I say that a lot). But in comfort too, I wanted to ‘dress for the occasion’. So I came up with the following outfit solution:

Floral Maxi Skirt + Raw Silk Red Blouse + Statement Earrings

There’s something about this floral skirt that makes the whole outfit dressy. If you recall from this post, I had bought this skirt a couple of weeks back. It came with another top, but somehow the outfit as a whole did nothing for me. So I had made a mental note to look for a top from my existing wardrobe that would go nicely with the skirt. And on looking, I found this beautiful raw silk top that I had gotten stitched from my local tailor a couple of years back. So this whole outfit is the perfect example of ‘mix and match’. The best thing about this outfit is that since the skirt has an elastic waistband, it’s really comfortable.

OOTD: Denim Dress + Floral Necklace

For me a denim dress is a closet staple, and that’s because it’s so easy to dress-up a denim dress. All you need is a fun accessory, like a statement necklace, and voila you’re ready to hit the town.

Talking about denim dresses, I just have two of them, but every time I’m in doubt as to what to wear, I find myself reaching out for one of the two dresses, like I did a couple of weeks back. I had to run a couple of errands and then head to the mall for some shopping, and I did not really have the time to get all ‘dolled-up’. So I just pulled out my denim dress, threw on a floral necklace, stuffed my necessities in my Speedy 30, and I was good to go. That simple!

How To Wear Ankle Booties: Tips & Outfit Idea

If you’ve seen my Winter Fashion Haul, you’d know that I scored a great pair of ankle booties from Forever 21. However, as much as I loved my new find, I was a little apprehensive about rocking them since they were the first pair of ‘booties’ I’d ever owned. Anyhow, it just took me one wear to sort of ease in to the idea of styling them. I realized that the more I wore them, the more I got comfortable about wearing them with different outfits.  And so I thought I’d share with you some tips and tricks on how to style ankle booties. Winter Fashion Haul: Sarojini Nagar + Forever 21

So as winter sets in, slowly and steadily, I thought why not be prepared to welcome the colder months with a little style. And for that I did some shopping. Think cozy knits, sparkly sweaters, plaid shirt, booties and all that good stuff. I don’t know about you, but for me scarves are one of my favourite accessories. They instantly take an outfit a notch-up by adding interest to one’s look. Now although I wear scarves all throughout the year (checkout my Instagram for proof), with the colder months approaching, I’m sure we’ll all be a little more inclined to get all snuggled up in colourful, cozy scarves.

So I thought why not show you how I play with my scarves to get maximum wear out of them. To be precise, in this video, I share with you 7 different ways of tying a scarf.

Hair Accessories- The Easy Way to Style Your Hair

I have long, straight hair and styling it is often hard. I mean my hair just doesn’t stay in place for long, no matter how many bob-pins I use! And I often find it frustrating to style my hair when going out. So usually I just wear it straight and simple. I do sometimes use hair-spray to make my hair stay in place, but then again the hair spray leaves my hair more dry than stable. Any of you recommend a good hairspray?!

So what do I do to make my hairstyle look a little fancier without trying to stick too many bob-pins in it?! I just add a fun hair-clip/hair accessory. Seriously, these little hair-clips are the best thing ever, especially if you have hair like mine (which are super-difficult to style). I have quite a few hair-clips in fun colours and shapes and just putting one in my hair makes my whole outfit look so much better. It makes me feel like I’ve put in a ton of effort to style my hair but in reality I’ve just worn this one fun, quirky piece. There is an endless variety to choose from in the market.  Here are a few hair-clips that I wear quite often.

The bow and the flowers are from the Trade Fair (Thailand Pavillion) and my Mum got the cute butterfly clip (in a ton of colours) for me. Basically, wearing fun, quirky hairclips is my quick-fix mantra for a fancy hair-do! What’s yours?
