Dressing Trendy Without Spending A Penny

If you ask me I'm not someone who is super-trendy, and I am especially not the first one to jump on to new trends.

However, if I like a particular fashion trend, the first thing I try to do is look in to my ever-expanding wardrobe to see if I have any item to create the so-called trendy look, without having to spend any real money on the same. And this is what happened when I wanted to try out the oh-so-popular trend of wearing longer shirts over tops/tees and jeans. Now dusters are also a rage currently, and I do have a bohemian floor length kaftan/kimono style duster, but I was more interested in the mid-length shirt/buttoned tunic sort of a look. So after rummaging through my closet, I came across this striped dress, which can actually be worn multiple ways, thanks to the buttoned front. So after pulling this little number out of my closet I quickly picked out one of my favourite (and also fairly old) blue/white tops. I paired my blue skinny jeans with the top and the tunic/dress and voila...I created an outfit that was/is trendy without spending even a penny. So I encourage you guys to go through your existing clothes in order to recreate a trend without blindly heading to the shops to buy those "trendy" pieces.

BTW, if you have seen my Turkey Look-Books, you would know that I had worn this striped blue dress in magical Cappadocia.

Celebrity Style Inspiration || Miranda Kerr || 3 Outfits

Celebrity street style serves as a major source of fashion inspiration for me, and TBH, I can spend hours looking at outfit photos of my favourite celebrities, and more often than not, the thought that comes to my mind is that I could put similar, if not same, outfits together.

So working on this very thought, I recreated 3 looks inspired by Miranda Kerr's street style. She has got a stunning sense of style and I've never come across a photo of hers where she looks anything less than gorgeous!

OOTD: Reggae Vibes

I love me some stripes, and I love me some colour. So when you combine stripes and colour, it automatically results in my favourite outfit. And when the colour palette has a strong reggae vibe to it, it just makes the outfit that much more special.

Confused by the description? Checkout the dress I wore a couple of weeks back. This dress is super comfortable and fits beautifully. I like the fuss-free style and the fact that it’s cotton makes it for an easy wear in this humid weather.

I paired the dress up with my brown Bata flats and a tan belt (from Bangkok). And my choice of handbag was the Louis Vuitton Galliera PM. I love how the tan elements (in the accessories) complement the outfit and pull the whole look together. I also wore a peach hair-band (also from Bangkok). If you follow me on Instagram, you would know that I have been loving hair-bands.

Perfect Outfit for Running Errands: Striped Top and Skinny Jeans: OOTD

I know I’ve been lagging behind on outfit posts since a while now, and I’m working on improving the same. With that being said, I do have an outfit post for you guys.

I wore this comfy yet chic outfit to run errands a couple of days back. Usually when it comes to running errands, we do not really care about our appearance, but a couple of basic items will ensure you look put-together even while there are a million things to accomplish on your to-do list. J

Breaking Some Fashion Rules: OOTD

I am usually not the one to follow the so called 'fashion-rules', mostly because I like wearing clothes and putting together outfits that tickle my fancy.

So when I was getting dressed for work today, I was in a mood to go all business-y but with a twist. And that twist came in the form of studded black flat sandals. Just by looking at the outfit, one would think of wearing black (at the most beige/nude) pumps with it, since the whole outfit (striped button-up shirt and black trousers) is fairly formal. But considering how hot and humid it has been here (in New Delhi) and also the fact that I can get away with flat sandals at work, I just decided to ditch the shoes and opt for sandals instead.

Honestly, I like the outfit, and the 'unexpected' sandals don't bother me too much.

Travelogue: Day 1 in Kuala Lumpur

So after a not-so-long (but tiring) flight we arrived in KL early morning (6ish, I recall). I think at that point, Hubs and I both could best be described as ‘sleepyheads’. But once we were in our cab, sleep vanished out of the window. Literally!

OOTD: Multicoloured Striped Sweater, Trousers and Blazer

I know I’ve been posting outfits with striped sweater back to back, but what to do, they just seem to be so versatile.

So today I bring to you another work-appropriate outfit, featuring my new multicoloured striped sweater. Wuhooo!

Striping It Out: OOTD

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but let me say it again, I think stripes fall in the category of neutrals! I mean with so much of pattern-mixing in the fashion-world, stripes are the safest pattern to mix with anotherpatter/print…say polka-dots!

Pattern Mixing: Polka Dots and Stripes

I know pattern mixing has been on trend for a while but I have stayed away from this trend, that is until now. I never really disliked the trend but somehow I didn’t find it interesting enough to wear it. However, Friday night we had to go to CR Park for Durga Pooja J (yearly tradition) and I just put this outfit together without realizing that I was indulging in pattern mixing.

My work out for Friday was kind of casual, and I didn’t have a lot of time to get dressed after work to go to the Pooja Pandal, so I just swapped my top and cardigan for this pink and white striped top. Rest of the items were the same from the day (black skinnies, polka dot scarf and tan bag).

I quickly got myself clicked before heading out.

Stripes are the New Neutrals: Outfit of the Day

Stripes have invaded the fashion scene like no other trend. Or maybe they were always a part of the ever-evolving fashion scenario and just did not notice. Whatever be the case, I can surely vouch for one thing and that is the fact that no wardrobe is complete without a striped-top. They are the new neutrals, so easy to wear and even easier to layer (how it rhymes beautifully! Haha). Think about it, just a plain combo of jeans and striped-tee can be taken a notch up by adding a third piece...say a chambray shirt, a lightweight jacket or a solid bright scarf.

So I did exactly the same when I teamed up my striped-tee with a pair of skinny jeans and added a hot pink scarf to make the outfit bright and colourful. Although the striped tee and skinny jeans were fine by themselves, adding a bright scarf brought a little interest to the outfit. It gives the impressions that I’ve put in some effort to put this outfit together whereas in reality I just wrapped a scarf around my neck (This scarf was previously worn here). I also wore some hoop earrings (one of my favourites). I stacked my wrist with my usual rose-gold watch, pearl bracelet and pink and silver bangles and my choice of footwear was my silver flats. The bag I carried was my brown sling/fringe bag. Since on weekdays I have no choice but to carry my humongous bag, on weekends I try to stick to my little sling bags (good for the shoulders I say).
