Remember
I told you all that I will write up a post on the Indian outfits I wore for
weddings and other related functions. Well, today I’m going to share with you
an outfit that I wore to friend’s brother’s wedding reception.
Let
me begin by stating that I have never really been big on sarees, up until the
recent past. I always thought of sarees to be cumbersome to wear, and almost
always chose to wear suits and anarkalis to friends’ weddings. However, now
that I have a nice collection of sarees (thanks to my wedding trousseau), I am
determined to wear each one of them at least once. And what better way to utilise
them than to rock them on weddings.
So
I wore this gorgeous gold net saree almost a month ago. This saree was gifted
to me by Hubs, and I quite like for its simplicity. The saree is a light gold
net with a wide border in a mix of deep coral, gold and silver. I absolutely
love the border. The blouse is a deep coral with gold and silver piping on the
sleeves. The neckline has pearls all along (not visible in the photo) and the
strings have beautiful diamontes and pearls. The latkans on the blouse were
added keeping in mind the latkans on the pallu of the saree.
I
think I’ve said this earlier, I find sarees to be dressy enough on their own,
so I tend to go easy on the accessories. Here, I wore pearl earrings
(coordinated with the latkans), golden bangles and a coral bindi. I carried a
multi-coloured potli (bag) and kept my footwear simple and comfortable (golden
sandals with about 1.5 inch heels).
PS:
I did not drape the saree, it was done by a professional at a beauty salon.
